Home > Cell Phone Providers > Fizz Mobile Review (2026) – Plans, Prices, Reviews
A lot has changed over the past few weeks, so I wanted to refresh this review.
This is my honest Fizz Mobile review after using the service for several months. Fizz is a low-cost, fully digital brand owned by Quebecor, the same company behind Videotron and Freedom Mobile.
Fizz originally built its reputation as a cool, youth-focused carrier that does everything online and keeps prices competitive with Public Mobile and Lucky Mobile. But recently, they stepped things up.
Fizz has now launched 5G and introduced new plan options, which makes the service even more competitive than it was a short time ago.
The network still runs primarily on Videotron’s and Freedom Mobile’s infrastructure, with roaming on partner carriers like Rogers when you’re outside the core coverage zones. That said, speeds and overall plan flexibility have clearly improved.
The big selling points are still here: month-to-month prepaid plans, no contracts, full customization through their online portal, and unique perks like data rollover and data gifting between members.
Fizz runs on Freedom Mobile and Videotron infrastructure, with roaming on partner networks like Rogers when you’re outside the core coverage zones.
Coverage is strongest in Quebec and Ontario and continues to improve as Freedom expands its network footprint. The big update is that Fizz now offers 5G on both Videotron’s and Freedom’s networks, with speeds reaching up to 250 Mbps in supported areas. That’s a massive step up compared to how Fizz used to perform.
That said, Fizz still keeps things flexible. If you want to keep costs down, you can choose lower-tier plans that run at LTE speeds instead of 5G. These are more than enough for everyday use like browsing, streaming, and social media, and they’re a great option if you don’t need maximum speeds.
Another unique feature is the ability to choose “Province” coverage, which can save you a few dollars each month. If you travel more, switching to Canada-wide coverage is easy through the online portal, and you can also add U.S. or international minutes whenever you need them.
Fizz keeps things flexible and simple. Plans are prepaid, billed monthly, and managed entirely through the online portal. There are no contracts, no credit checks, and no hidden fees.
A lot has changed recently on the pricing side. Fizz introduced new plans, with the biggest standout being 35 GB for $35 on 5G, which is one of the better value options on the market right now. You can also still choose lower-tier LTE plans if you want to keep costs down, which is something not every carrier offers anymore.
Fizz remains competitive with brands like Public Mobile, but the value proposition is a bit different. Public Mobile leans more into simple 5G pricing, while Fizz focuses on flexibility, customization, and perks like data rollover and data gifting between members.
One thing worth watching for is Fizz’s Discovery discounts. From time to time, they run promos where you get 50% off your plan for 3 to 6 months, which can make their plans insanely cheap if you time it right. These offers usually apply to new activations and can be changed or removed at any time, so they’re more of a bonus than something to rely on long-term.
Another underrated feature is how easy it is to switch plans. If a better promo pops up, you just log in and change your plan for the next billing cycle. Combine that with data rollover, where unused data carries forward for 60 days, and it’s easy to stretch your monthly spend.
Fizz also offers very affordable add-ons. If you’re in BC, AB, MB, or ON, you can add U.S. coverage for just $1. If you live in Quebec, the U.S. coverage add-on costs $4. This is a great option if you only need U.S. access occasionally and don’t want to pay for it every month.
Finally, Fizz supports eSIM, so you can activate instantly without waiting for a physical SIM card.
The biggest missing feature is WiFi calling, which Fizz does not support.
Getting started was simple. I ordered the SIM card online, and it arrived in about 3–4 days. Activation took just a few minutes once I inserted the SIM and followed the online steps.
Service has been reliable for me. Over the past 8 months, I’ve had stable coverage within the city and surrounding areas. Speeds aren’t blazing fast, but they’ve been consistent enough to stay connected and avoid dropped calls.
What I really like is the flexibility. When a cheaper promotion came out, I was able to switch plans instantly online. Combined with data rollover, I saved money by alternating between high-data months and lighter-data months.
Fizz is fully digital. There are no stores or call centres, and everything is handled through their online portal and support chat. The support team is generally quick to respond and helpful, though the experience isn’t as personal as calling a traditional carrier.
Other customers often praise Fizz for its affordability, plan flexibility, and the ability to share or roll over data. The customization is a big plus compared to larger carriers.
On the downside, some users point out that LTE speeds can feel dated compared to 5G, and that online-only support won’t suit everyone.
That said, this feedback should start to change now that Fizz offers 5G on supported plans. It’s not the same 5G+ you’ll get from big carriers like TELUS or Rogers, but the pricing is significantly lower, and for most people the real-world difference in speed and day-to-day usage is minimal.
Fizz is one of the most affordable and flexible mobile providers in Canada. It now offers 5G on supported plans, and while it’s not the same 5G+ experience you’ll get from the big carriers, the real-world speed difference is minimal for most users, especially considering how much cheaper Fizz’s plans are. You also get customizable plans, data rollover, data gifting, and full control through the online portal.
There are still no physical stores, so everything is handled online. For some people that’s a downside, but for others it’s part of what keeps prices low.
If you value flexibility, control, and saving money, Fizz is a great option. If you want faster peak speeds or in-store support, TELUS or Rogers may be better alternatives.
