If you’re looking for fast fibre in Oakville, Bell will top your list of internet service providers.
Our pick would be Bell’s Gigabit Fibe 1.5 plan, which offers 1,500 Mbps download speed and 940 Mbps upload speed for $130 per month.
However, if you’re looking for savings, Oxio is the way to go. Its Internet 1000 plan gives you 1,000 Mbps download speeds. Upload speeds are just 50 Mbps, but that’s fast enough for most of us, and the $85 price tag is certainly attractive.
Cogeco is worth mentioning. Although its Ultrafibre 1 gig unlimited package costs $99 on a month-to-month basis, signing up for 24 months reduces this price to $69.94 per month.
To clarify our choices, we’ve summarised our take on each of these internet service providers below.
NetSpeed Canada considers internet plans, pricing, customer support, availability, broadband technology, and the overall value, when recommending internet service providers in Oakville.
When it comes to home internet plans, we also evaluate the download & upload speeds, installation process, contract requirements, unlimited data, user experience, and equipment rental options for each ISP.
To ensure our information is specific to your exact location, we use our proprietary database that has been built in-house by our team. We run regular spot-checks on local addresses in the database to verify ISP service availability.
As with any methodology, there are a few limitations. While we do our best to give you the latest and most accurate information on the speed and pricing of specific ISPs in your area, this data is variable and certain addresses may qualify for different internet services.
Although we generate our data points from the ISPs themselves, we do recommend entering your address into the ISP’s website to find specific plans available in your area.
The reviews and recommendations below are not sponsored. We independently test and review all internet service providers in this article and do our best to give you an unbiased view.

Bell is the largest and best-resourced internet service provider in Canada and, as you’d expect, it serves Oakville.
What we like most about Bell is its fibre to the home technology which allows you to enjoy faster upload speeds than any of its competitors can.
The company offers an even faster 3 Gbps plan, but it’s only available at a few addresses. That’s why we’ve focused on the widely available Gigabit Fibe 1.5 package at $130 per month.
Since you’re going for the top-of-the range option, you might want to throw in a few extras. WiFi pods will set you back an extra $5 per month.
The WiFi 6E Giga Hub from Bell comes with an installation cost of $60.
The downside of Bell is the cost of its internet plans, but if your online activity warrants it, you may find Bell worthwhile.
Most consumers on the other hand, will be well-satisfied with 1 Gbps plans and don’t really need 940 Mbps uploads. In this scenario, you stand a good chance of finding cheaper plans that still work for you.

If you’re hoping to relax online for less, a home internet plan from Oxio might suit you very well. Oxio’s Internet 1000 plan gives you 1,000 Mbps download speeds and 50 Mbps upload speeds.
It may not suit you if you work from home and must frequently upload large files, but it should be ample for several devices along with HD streaming and gaming, for example.
We have to say, we like Oxio’s philosophy. They aren’t trying to lock customers in with contracts or lure them in with limited-time, low-priced offers. Instead, they’re counting on their customer service to keep you satisfied with your choice. Judging from consumer reviews, they’re doing very well in this regard.
Topping it off, your router is free and so is installation.
Of course, there is a downside. The primary issue with Oxio is its use of cable for service delivery. This means slower download speeds (as we’ve seen) and potential for demand-based speed fluctuations.

If you’re willing to sign up for two years, Cogeco will offer an even better price for 1 Gbps max speeds than Oxio. Its Ultrafibre 1 gig unlimited package costs $99, but they’ll drop that monthly charge to $69.94 if you sign up for the 24 month contract.
On the upside, most consumers appear to be quite happy with Cogeco as an internet service provider. Reliability, they say, is good – but customer service reviews vary from the furious to the delighted leaving us with the conclusion that customer service can be somewhat inconsistent.
Reviewers also say that Cogeco isn’t up to Bell’s speeds. Since Cogeco dubbed its fibre to the node (FTTN) or part-fibre offering “Ultrafibe,” it’s understandable that consumers would compare the two plans.
This brings us to the downside of Cogeco. FTTN connections cannot offer the same speeds as FTTH. FTTH has fairly symmetrical upload and download speeds. FTTN uploads are far slower than downloads. You’ll see this in the 40 Mbps upload speed you’ll get from the Ultrafibre 1 gig plan.

TekSavvy offers price advantages – but only for the first year. If you choose TekSavvy, your 1 Gbps plan with 50 Mbps upload speeds will cost $68.95 per month. But be aware: after the honeymoon period, the price of your service is higher than Oxio’s.
As a reseller, TekSavvy uses Rogers infrastructure, but the company doesn’t offer fibre. However, you can get a cable or DSL connection. If, like most of us, download speeds are your primary concern, you will still have fast internet.
Customer service has drawn some criticism, but this may be partly as a result of TekSavvy’s position as a reseller. Simply put, it doesn’t own the infrastructure it uses for service delivery.

Rogers is controversial, but it’s also a prominent internet service provider in Oakville. Comparing its 1.5 Gbps plan to Bell’s, Rogers is a little cheaper at $129.99 per month. But since it’s cable-based, the upload speeds are just 50 Mbps.
From a technical perspective, Rogers performs quite well and consumers remark on the reliability of the service. It’s definitely been a focus for the company following the infamous 2022 outage that affected over 12 million people.
Customer service, on the other hand, appears to be on the backburner with multiple scathing reviews to be seen on platforms like Reddit.
Most homes in Oakville will have access to 1 Gbps plans, and pure fibre connections from Bell are widely available.
If we are to look at averages, they’re 183.89 Mbps for downloads and 37.17 Mbps for uploads.
These figures, particularly the upload speeds, already reflect the rise of fibre, and with many people working from home and requiring fast upload speeds, we can expect both figures to rise over time.
The fastest internet plans in Oakville feature speeds of 3 Gbps and more, but are only available at a few addresses.
From time to time, you’ll hear about people getting red-hot promotional deals from internet service providers.
Often, they form part of a regional promotion, and you may see them advertised on company websites and even at your local mall. You may even receive a visit from a sales rep if your area is being targeted for a special offer.
As you’ll have noticed after reading this article, signing up for a contract or taking advantage of an introductory offer might result in cost-reductions.
However, there have been instances in which consumers have experienced buyers’ regret, so do your homework before accepting what appears to be a great deal.
Finally, if you’re aware of a cheaper offer that you like, try using it to negotiate with ISPs, there are many examples of consumers receiving better offers when using this strategy.
Not every internet service subscriber has a large family with bandwidth-intensive demands. For some, it’s all about having the ability to enjoy online pastimes without having to pay too much for the privilege.
If this is you, consider TekSavvy’s 30 Mbps package at $29.95. However, since you’ll face a substantial price increase after 12 months if you choose TekSavvy, Oxio’s 30 Mbps plan at $48 per month could also be a good option.
Bell offers the fastest pure fibre internet in Oakville. So, if speed is your top definition of what the best internet provider in Oakville should offer, then Bell is an easy winner.
For most people, the top plan to choose is Bell’s Gigabit Fibe 1.5 at $130 per month. There’s also a 3 Gbps plan, but it’s only available in a few buildings.
In the long term, Oxio offers the cheapest home internet in Oakville with 1 Gbps download speeds offered at $85 per month.
However, if you’re open to the possibility of switching plans later, Cogeco’s 24-month contract for the same download speed is even cheaper at $69.94 monthly, and Teksavvy’s first year (no-contract) costs $68.95.
If you’re not into super-fast speeds, a serviceable 30Mbps plan from Teksavvy costs $29.95 for the first year.
Most homes in Oakville have access to fibre in one form or another. Do be aware of the difference between fibre to the home and fibre to the node connections, however. The latter isn’t necessarily faster than cable.
Unless you’re in one of the very few buildings served by Beanfield, your fastest option will be Bell’s fibre to the home offers. The 1.5 Mbps plan is accessible to most residents. The 3.0 Gpbs plan may be available at certain addresses.
This is an excellent question to get answers to before choosing a home internet plan. Most providers will be able to help you based on your usage habits. But, to get an idea of how much speed you need, consider your online habits.
For many home internet users, 100 Mbps download speeds should be fast enough – a far cry from the super-fast speeds you could otherwise choose.
Apart from what you do online, consider how many devices will be accessing the internet all at once. For example, if you’re streaming HD video and only one device is connected. 50 Mbps will do. But most people have several connected devices in use at once.
Supposing that 5 to 8 devices are at work at once, you may need 200 Mbps or more.
Upload speeds are only really of importance to people who frequently upload large files, for example, people who work from home or those who frequently upload video footage. When they are, fibre to the home would be a convenient choice thanks to its fast upload speeds.

Tomas, the founder and editor-in-chief of NetSpeed Canada, moved to Vancouver, BC over 10 years ago and was shocked by the high cost of home internet plans. As a problem solver, he researched alternatives and discovered that Canada has many lesser-known internet providers beyond the Big 3. This led to the creation of NetSpeed Canada, a platform where Canadians can enter their address and view all available internet plans.
