Best Internet Providers in Surrey, BC

What Is The Best Home Internet Provider in Surrey?

If you live in a building serviced by Novus, you’ve got access to some of the fastest and most affordable internet in Surrey. Their Internet 1000 plan offers symmetrical speeds for just $50 per month, making it a top choice for speed and value.

The only catch is availability. Novus is limited to select buildings, so you’ll want to check your address first.

If Novus isn’t an option, Oxio is a solid alternative. Plans start at $40 per month with unlimited data, no contracts, and clear, upfront pricing.

TELUS PureFibre is also widely available in Surrey. With fast fibre-optic speeds and competitive pricing on term contracts, it’s a dependable pick for most households.

Below, you’ll find the most popular home internet plans currently available in Surrey.

NetSpeed Canada considers internet plans, pricing, customer support, availability, broadband technology, and the overall value, when recommending internet service providers in Vancouver.

When it comes to home internet plans, we also evaluate the download & upload speeds, installation process, contract requirements, unlimited data, user experience, and equipment rental options for each ISP.

To ensure our information is specific to your exact location, we use our proprietary database that has been built in-house by our team. We run regular spot-checks on local addresses in the database to verify ISP service availability.

As with any methodology, there are a few limitations. While we do our best to give you the latest and most accurate information on the speed and pricing of specific ISPs in your area, this data is variable and certain addresses may qualify for different internet services.

Although we generate our data points from the ISPs themselves, we do recommend entering your address into the ISP’s website to find specific plans available in your area.

Our Take on NOVUS

Novus is the largest independent internet provider in Metro Vancouver and offers some of the best value for high-speed fibre internet in Surrey. They use fibre-optic technology to deliver fast, stable connections with symmetrical upload and download speeds.

All of their plans include unlimited data, making them ideal for remote workers, streamers, and gamers alike.

The standout plan is Internet 1000, which gives you 1000 Mbps speeds for just $50 per month. It’s a limited-time offer and easily one of the most affordable gigabit plans available in Surrey.

If you need even more speed, Internet 2500 is available for $95 per month and delivers ultra-fast performance for large households or heavy usage.

Novus includes free installation and provides a WiFi 6 router at no extra cost for the first two years. You can also rent a mesh WiFi satellite for $5 per month to extend your wireless coverage without losing speed.

From personal experience, Novus has been excellent. I’ve been with them for over three years, and the service has been consistently fast and reliable. Their live chat support connects you directly with experienced technicians, which makes a big difference when you need help.

Before switching to Novus, I was on Telus’s 1000 Mbps plan. While the speeds were fine, the monthly price was more than double, and I had a frustrating experience with their customer service.

The only downside to Novus is availability. It’s limited to selected buildings in Surrey, Vancouver, Burnaby, Coquitlam, New Westminster, North Vancouver, Port Moody, Richmond, and West Vancouver — so be sure to check your address first.

Our Take on OXIO

Oxio offers a no-nonsense internet service that puts transparency and customer experience front and center. Their approach is simple: clear pricing, solid support, and no hidden fees.

In Surrey, Oxio delivers internet over cable networks using Rogers infrastructure. Plans start at $40 per month for 25 Mbps download speeds, making it one of the most affordable options for basic browsing and streaming.

Depending on your location, you may also be eligible for faster plans — up to 1000 Mbps — for $90 per month. Oxio is upfront about how they price their plans, even breaking down where your money goes, from network and logistics to hardware, payroll, and profit.

They include free installation, no contract requirements, and an Eero 6 router at no extra cost, which gives you plenty of flexibility and convenience.

The main drawback with Oxio is the underlying technology. Since they operate on a coaxial cable network, upload speeds are much slower compared to fibre. Most of their competitors now offer symmetrical fibre connections, which gives them an edge in speed and stability.

That said, with the CRTC’s recent decision to open up access to major fibre networks like Telus and Bell, there’s a good chance we’ll see Oxio rolling out fibre internet plans sometime in 2025.

Our Take on TELUS

Telus offers the widest broadband coverage in Surrey, and its PureFibre network delivers some of the fastest home internet available in the city. With 100% fibre connections, Telus stands out for speed and reliability — especially in areas where other providers are still using cable.

The fastest Telus plan currently available in select Surrey buildings is PureFibre Internet X 3G, which offers symmetrical speeds of 3000 Mbps with no data caps. It’s priced at $130 per month on a 2-year contract.

For most households, the more popular option is the PureFibre Internet Gigabit plan. It comes with 1000 Mbps download and upload speeds and costs $110 per month on a 2-year term, or $125 per month if you prefer a month-to-month setup.

Telus includes a WiFi router in your monthly plan. You can choose to self-install — they’ll ship the equipment to your door — or pay extra for professional installation by a technician. In some newer apartment buildings, the Telus router may already be pre-installed, making activation as simple as a phone call.

The biggest downside with Telus is the price. Their plans are on the higher end, especially compared to independent providers offering similar speeds. Customer service can also be hit or miss, depending on who you speak with — something we’ve heard from a number of users.

TEKSAVVY

Our Take on TEKSAVVY

TekSavvy is a long-standing independent provider offering a wide range of internet plans with no contracts and unlimited data. It’s a solid option for families and individuals looking for value without getting locked into long-term agreements.

In Surrey, TekSavvy delivers service through coaxial cable and DSL lines. While they don’t yet offer fibre in BC, they still manage to provide some of the most budget-friendly plans available.

Their most affordable option is the 30 Mbps Unlimited plan at $29.95 per month. It’s a great pick for light users or budget-conscious households that just need the basics.

If you need more speed, TekSavvy also offers a 1 Gbps Unlimited plan with 1000 Mbps download and 100 Mbps upload speeds for $74.95 per month — a good balance between performance and price.

One thing we like about TekSavvy is the variety. They offer over a dozen different home internet plans in BC, which gives users flexibility to choose something that fits their needs and budget.

Right now, they don’t use fibre technology in BC, which means upload speeds tend to be much lower than download speeds. However, change is on the horizon.

In May 2024, TekSavvy was granted temporary access to fibre networks in Ontario and Quebec. And starting in February 2025, TELUS, Bell, and SaskTel will be required to open their fibre infrastructure to independent providers in other provinces — including BC.

What remains to be seen is how wholesale pricing will shape future plans. As soon as TekSavvy rolls out new fibre options and updated pricing, we’ll be sure to update our database.

ROGERS

Our Take on ROGERS

Rogers offers fast and reliable internet in Surrey through its fibre-powered network. Since acquiring Shaw in April 2023, Rogers has expanded its reach in Western Canada, bringing more competition to the market and helping to drive down prices for consumers.

The fastest plan currently available to most Surrey households is Internet 1.5 Gigabit, with download speeds of up to 1500 Mbps and upload speeds of 150 Mbps. It’s priced at $110 per month when you sign a 2-year contract.

For those who don’t need blazing-fast speeds, Rogers also has more affordable options like Ignite Internet 75, which provides 75 Mbps download and upload speeds for $60 per month on a 2-year plan.

To help improve WiFi coverage throughout your home, Rogers offers the Ignite WiFi Pod (Gen 2) as an optional add-on for $10 per month.

The main drawback with Rogers is that their best pricing is locked behind a 2-year commitment. If you’re not a fan of long-term contracts, that might be a dealbreaker. Still, for those who want a large-scale provider with strong infrastructure and consistent performance, Rogers is worth considering.

How Fast Is Surrey Broadband?

According to the latest Speedtest data, the median download speed in Surrey is around 176 Mbps, with upload speeds averaging 92 Mbps.

Despite these numbers, most homes in Surrey have access to much faster connections. Gigabit internet plans — and even multi-gig options — are widely available, but many households still aren’t upgrading. This could be due to a lack of awareness, or simply sticking with older plans.

One of the fastest plans available in Surrey is the TELUS PureFibre Internet X 3.0, offering blazing-fast symmetrical speeds. However, it’s typically limited to newer buildings and high-density areas.

Novus Internet 2500 is another incredibly fast option for select buildings in Surrey, making it one of the top choices for power users — if it’s available at your address.

How to Find Home Internet Deals and Promotions in Surrey

To find the best internet deals in Surrey, it’s always a good idea to visit provider websites directly. Many of them list current promotions, signup bonuses, or limited-time discounts.

Look out for special rates when you commit to a 2-year contract — some providers will cut the monthly price significantly in exchange for the term.

If you live in a condo or apartment where a smaller ISP like Novus or Oxio is available, you might also notice larger providers offering targeted deals to stay competitive. It’s worth comparing.

Cheap Home Internet Plans in Surrey

If you’re mainly looking for something affordable, Surrey has a wide range of budget-friendly internet options.

TekSavvy currently offers a 30 Mbps unlimited plan for $29.95/month, making it one of the cheapest choices available. Oxio’s Internet 25 plan goes for $40/month, and Novus 100 is available for just $50/month — offering solid speeds for everyday use.

Whether you’re streaming, working from home, or just browsing, there are plenty of plans under $50 that can meet most needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

The best home internet plan is the Novus Internet 1000, currently for only $50/month.

If Novus is not available in your area, we recommend choosing one of Oxio’s or TechSavvy’s plans for budget-friendly options.

Or if Fiber internet and fast speeds are what you are looking for, take a look at Telus.

TechSavvy offers the cheapest internet plan which costs only $29.95 for 30 Mbps.

However, there are other cheaper internet plans available, including low-cost options from Oxio, Rogers, and Novus.

While almost all ISPs offer various internet plan pricing options, not all plans may be available in your area.

Remember to enter your address on the website of your desired ISP to check the availability of the plans.

Yes, you can access fiber internet in most parts of Surrey. Fiber optic technology delivers reliable and incredibly fast internet speeds, making it a great option for most users.

Make sure that you check with your chosen service provider to confirm whether fiber optic technology is available in your specific location. Novus, Rogers, and Telus all use Fiber internet.

The fastest internet in Surrey is offered by Telus, with the maximum upload and download speeds reaching 3000 Mbps.

With this plan, you can unleash lightning-speed connections for seamless gaming, streaming, and more.

The 3-Gig internet is a fiber connection, and you can bundle it with TV, cell phone, and home phone service.

Additionally, Novus offers 2500 Mbps for only $95/month which is an awesome deal.

We recommend that you purchase an internet plan with at least 100 Mbps download speed. However, not all internet speeds are available in all areas.

You need to explore what internet connection types are available and then identify the internet plan with the most suitable speed for your internet needs.

For example, if you live in a metropolitan area, you will have access to a wide range of options including fiber and cable plans, whereas rural areas will typically have fewer options. Fiber provides the fastest speed, reaching up to 3 Gbps, followed by cable, satellite, and DSL.

You need to think of how you will use the internet and the number of connected devices before selecting a plan.

For working from home, you will need 20 Mbps for video conferencing, email, or social networking on one device. You need at least 30 Mbps for watching Netflix and 50 Mbps for HD quality.

Tomas, the founder and editor-in-chief of NetSpeed Canada, moved to Vancouver, BC over 10 years ago and was shocked by the high cost of home internet plans. As a problem solver, he researched alternatives and discovered that Canada has many lesser-known internet providers beyond the Big 3. This led to the creation of NetSpeed Canada, a platform where Canadians can enter their address and view all available internet plans.
