Novus is the largest independent internet provider in Metro Vancouver and offers some of the best value for high-speed fibre internet in Surrey. They use fibre-optic technology to deliver fast, stable connections with symmetrical upload and download speeds.

All of their plans include unlimited data, making them ideal for remote workers, streamers, and gamers alike.

The standout plan is Internet 1000, which gives you 1000 Mbps speeds for just $50 per month. It’s a limited-time offer and easily one of the most affordable gigabit plans available in Surrey.

If you need even more speed, Internet 2500 is available for $95 per month and delivers ultra-fast performance for large households or heavy usage.

Novus includes free installation and provides a WiFi 6 router at no extra cost for the first two years. You can also rent a mesh WiFi satellite for $5 per month to extend your wireless coverage without losing speed.

From personal experience, Novus has been excellent. I’ve been with them for over three years, and the service has been consistently fast and reliable. Their live chat support connects you directly with experienced technicians, which makes a big difference when you need help.

Before switching to Novus, I was on Telus’s 1000 Mbps plan. While the speeds were fine, the monthly price was more than double, and I had a frustrating experience with their customer service.

The only downside to Novus is availability. It’s limited to selected buildings in Surrey, Vancouver, Burnaby, Coquitlam, New Westminster, North Vancouver, Port Moody, Richmond, and West Vancouver — so be sure to check your address first.

Depending on your location, you may also be eligible for faster plans — up to 1000 Mbps — for $90 per month. Oxio is upfront about how they price their plans, even breaking down where your money goes, from network and logistics to hardware, payroll, and profit.

They include free installation, no contract requirements, and an Eero 6 router at no extra cost, which gives you plenty of flexibility and convenience.

The main drawback with Oxio is the underlying technology. Since they operate on a coaxial cable network, upload speeds are much slower compared to fibre. Most of their competitors now offer symmetrical fibre connections, which gives them an edge in speed and stability.

That said, with the CRTC’s recent decision to open up access to major fibre networks like Telus and Bell, there’s a good chance we’ll see Oxio rolling out fibre internet plans sometime in 2025.

Telus offers the widest broadband coverage in Surrey, and its PureFibre network delivers some of the fastest home internet available in the city. With 100% fibre connections, Telus stands out for speed and reliability — especially in areas where other providers are still using cable.

The fastest Telus plan currently available in select Surrey buildings is PureFibre Internet X 3G, which offers symmetrical speeds of 3000 Mbps with no data caps. It’s priced at $130 per month on a 2-year contract.

For most households, the more popular option is the PureFibre Internet Gigabit plan. It comes with 1000 Mbps download and upload speeds and costs $110 per month on a 2-year term, or $125 per month if you prefer a month-to-month setup.

Telus includes a WiFi router in your monthly plan. You can choose to self-install — they’ll ship the equipment to your door — or pay extra for professional installation by a technician. In some newer apartment buildings, the Telus router may already be pre-installed, making activation as simple as a phone call.

The biggest downside with Telus is the price. Their plans are on the higher end, especially compared to independent providers offering similar speeds. Customer service can also be hit or miss, depending on who you speak with — something we’ve heard from a number of users.

TekSavvy is a long-standing independent provider offering a wide range of internet plans with no contracts and unlimited data. It’s a solid option for families and individuals looking for value without getting locked into long-term agreements.

In Surrey, TekSavvy delivers service through coaxial cable and DSL lines. While they don’t yet offer fibre in BC, they still manage to provide some of the most budget-friendly plans available.

Their most affordable option is the 30 Mbps Unlimited plan at $29.95 per month. It’s a great pick for light users or budget-conscious households that just need the basics.

If you need more speed, TekSavvy also offers a 1 Gbps Unlimited plan with 1000 Mbps download and 100 Mbps upload speeds for $74.95 per month — a good balance between performance and price.

One thing we like about TekSavvy is the variety. They offer over a dozen different home internet plans in BC, which gives users flexibility to choose something that fits their needs and budget.

Right now, they don’t use fibre technology in BC, which means upload speeds tend to be much lower than download speeds. However, change is on the horizon.

In May 2024, TekSavvy was granted temporary access to fibre networks in Ontario and Quebec. And starting in February 2025, TELUS, Bell, and SaskTel will be required to open their fibre infrastructure to independent providers in other provinces — including BC.

Rogers offers fast and reliable internet in Surrey through its fibre-powered network. Since acquiring Shaw in April 2023, Rogers has expanded its reach in Western Canada, bringing more competition to the market and helping to drive down prices for consumers.

The fastest plan currently available to most Surrey households is Internet 1.5 Gigabit, with download speeds of up to 1500 Mbps and upload speeds of 150 Mbps. It’s priced at $110 per month when you sign a 2-year contract.

For those who don’t need blazing-fast speeds, Rogers also has more affordable options like Ignite Internet 75, which provides 75 Mbps download and upload speeds for $60 per month on a 2-year plan.

To help improve WiFi coverage throughout your home, Rogers offers the Ignite WiFi Pod (Gen 2) as an optional add-on for $10 per month.

The main drawback with Rogers is that their best pricing is locked behind a 2-year commitment. If you’re not a fan of long-term contracts, that might be a dealbreaker. Still, for those who want a large-scale provider with strong infrastructure and consistent performance, Rogers is worth considering.
